Opening at the Magnet Paseo on October 28 Friday is Jojo Serrano’s Objects and Horizons featuring 9 oil-laden paintings of varying sizes that are offshoots from accumulated collages Serrano has continuously reconfigured and recomposed. For this show, he has chosen certain images depicting landscapes, foliage, ropes and other naval paraphernalia, their selection
pandering to a certain deliberation of evocation of form and signification, as to what Serrano’s paintings have been mostly about for the past years. They are, as he says, conundrums of abstraction and representation. Their source, the slew of images cut from magazines, cut
"from other collages are in themselves objects, but transformed into a painting as a mere grand design or a representation as well of what it was.

Objects and Horizons opening cocktails will be at 6:30 PM. The show will run until November 9, 2005.
